Rooting down while life shifts. Here, I write through the ache, the questions, and the quiet becoming — learning to stand steady even when nothing feels certain.

We’re always in such a hurry to receive an answer from God on what to do. We want the answer, now! Even if what we are asking has no baring on our lives right in this moment.

We are often asked to ask God for counsel and then live the other parts of our lives and wait for that counsel to arrive. But we are a quick fix kind of people. A quick gratification type, all of us are. It is one of our greatest downfalls.

If we truly trust in God and His counsel then we wait. God’s got us! It has been proven over and over in the Bible and in my own personal life. He’s never abandoned His people. Isaiah 40:10- “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand.”

He knows when to respond and He does not want us to worry or be anxious on waiting. He promises to provide us with all we need. – Matthew 6:25-26- “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26: Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

He asks us to live and do His will in the waiting, and in doing that the answers will arrive. Usually it is in the most unexpected ways that answers arrive, have you noticed? Right when we want to give up, He swoops in and there He goes, making all kinds of sense.

Sometimes the response does not make sense but a faithful person knows that God would never lead you astray and follows the counsel fully trusting in Him and His understanding. His wisdom which far exceeds our own. – Romans 11:33-35- “Oh the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgements, and his paths beyond tracing out! 34: Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor? 35: Who has ever given to God, that God should repay them? 36: Far from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen”

In the waiting, God is teaching us patience and how to trust no matter what. In the waiting we deepen our faith. We look around and recall all the times He has responded and we deepen our gratitude.

God is not withholding answers. He is not punishing the righteous. He wants us to continue to run and rely on Him and once we’ve finally understood and accepted this and His ways-the waiting becomes less frantic and more patient.

In the waiting we settle knowing He absolutely has us as He always has.

Isaiah 58:8-9- “Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. 9: Then you will call, and the Lord will answers; you will
